Story Powered Leadership

Discover this training that helps modern leaders use purposeful storytelling to influence decisions, inspire teams & cut through information noise.

Move people to action

This program teaches practical techniques to harness the power of story to influence, engage, and inspire. Experience may be the best teacher—but a well-told story is the fastest way to transfer insight, meaning, and momentum.

This isn’t about telling entertaining tales. It’s about using story with intention: to make a point, build rapport, shift perspective, and move decisions forward. In today’s workplace, that capability isn’t a “nice to have”—it’s a leadership essential.

Organisations are evolving fast. Structures are flatter, stakeholders more diverse, and reporting lines more complex. Teams and customers are spread across time zones, while attention is fragmented by constant information overload. Yet leaders at every level still need to create clarity, build alignment, and persuade—often without formal authority.

Real stories cut through. They turn abstract messages into something people can see and feel—so they understand quickly, remember longer, and act sooner. Whether you’re communicating informally (where most leadership happens) or in higher-stakes moments like presentations, pitches, or change conversations, story is one of the most effective tools you can use.

Story-Powered Leadership (Anecdote International) helps leaders use real, authentic stories to build trust, create clarity, and move people to action—especially in moments of change. You’ll learn how to find the right stories, shape them with a simple structure, and deliver them with presence, so your message sticks and your leadership lands.

More than just storytelling

Storytelling for Leaders teaches a clear, systematic method for becoming a more confident and influential business communicator. But the program goes further.

You’ll also learn story-listening—the skill of inviting others to share meaningful real-life examples. By eliciting stories from colleagues, customers, and stakeholders, you build stronger connections, surface what people really think and feel, and gain a clearer view of what’s truly happening on the ground.

Developed by Anecdote International, this proven program has been used for years by global organisations such as Gartner, IBM, Mars, and Shell—and many more.

Why I became an Anecdote partner

I spent 23 years at Nokia, including 11 years as a senior executive. During that time, I noticed a clear pattern: some leaders could communicate with clarity and presence—people leaned in, understood quickly, and took action. Others were equally competent technically, but struggled to engage and influence. I could see the gap, but I didn’t yet have the language—or the method—to explain it.

When I left Nokia in 2011 to start my executive coaching practice, helping leaders communicate more effectively became a core part of my work. I had a strong hunch that storytelling was a key lever, so I went looking for the right approach. I attended a storytelling workshop, but it wasn’t what I needed: it focused on performance and entertainment. Useful skills—but not designed for the reality of leadership conversations, change communication, or influencing stakeholders.

When I shared that feedback, the facilitator pointed me to Anecdote International—specialists in business storytelling. I enrolled in their Story Powered Leadership program and immediately recognised it as the missing piece: practical, structured, and built for business.

Since then, I’ve used story consistently in my coaching and facilitation to build rapport faster, create clarity, and move people to action. In early 2020, as COVID accelerated uncertainty and change, it became even clearer: leaders needed a reliable way to cut through noise, connect with people, and communicate in a way that sticks. That was the moment I decided to become accredited to teach the methodology.

Today, I’m the accredited Singapore partner for Story Powered Leadership by Anecdote International. I help leaders find authentic stories, shape them with a simple structure, and deliver them with presence—so their message lands and their leadership has impact.

If you’d like, I’d love to connect and share more about how this work could support you and your teams.
